Our tamarillo is a tomato-like beauty native to the northern Andes of South America. The skin of Tamarillos can be yellow, red, orange or purple, while the flesh is often the same colour as the skin.
Flavour varies with colour, with the red varieties generally having a tart taste, while the yellow varieties are sweet, a taste combination of kiwi or passion fruit with tomato. They can be eaten raw and cooked, in sweet and savoury dishes, making them a perfect ingredient in any kitchen.
